I work from home. And by home, I mean a Brooklyn apartment that consists of a bedroom, living room/kitchen, and bathroom. That means that all day, every day, I work exactly 17.5 inches from the kitchen:
17.5 inches - not even two feet - from the kitchen. And therein lies the problem: I am a snacker.
So I’m hoping this blog will help. I’m going to attempt to photograph every single thing I put in my mouth in between breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hopefully, it will shame me into learning some moderation.
I’ll also probably throw in a recipe or two here and there, because I love to cook and, after years of being obsessed with the Food Network, I might have some good tips to share every now and then.
What else about me? I’m 24, and I live with my boyfriend and my new puppy Jack. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, but I think it will involve food and writing in some form or another. In the meantime, I love my job. I also try to stay fairly active, both at the gym and in general.

I can totally relate! Being a stay-at-home-mom and having the kitchen always available is very tempting. And you are so right, even the good stuff is bad when you eat it all day long.
I’m a college student right now, but I love the idea of working from home - or wherever your laptop takes you. Are you a writer?
Hi Casey - I’m technically an editorial assistant. I do research, write, interview people…all that stuff. Thanks for reading the blog!
Love this blog! I’m going to add you to my blogroll!
Thanks!! I’ve been meaning to add you to mine, too.
Sweet! Glad to see a blog that pretty much is me in a nutshell! Good luck in changing your eating habits, maybe you’ll rub off on me!
I need someone to rub off on me first
Have a nice day !
Stumbled upon your blog the other day and your narrative on some days cracks me up. Love it!
Thanks Anne!
Where did you go to school, and what is your degree in?
BTW–I love reading your blog!
Nici -
I went to Shepherd College and I was an English major/journalism minor. Thanks for reading!!
Ok, I am the world’s biggest internet idiot.
I did not realize until JUST NOW you were Chris’ girlfriend and vice versa.
Gah.
I’m putting you on my blogroll right now.
Aaaannnd…I work from home too!
Kiala - I love your blog. Even more so now that I’ve seen your dance moves. Do you eat every five minutes, too?
I eat every five minutes too. And when I’m not eating, I’m thinking about eating. And that makes me hungry.
Where I work there is a large jar of chocolates on my boss’s desk.
It talks dirty to me all day long…”come eat me…you know you want me…just do it…it’ll feel soooo good!” and so on.
Kristen -
Me too. And when I’m eating, I’m thinking about what I’m going to be eating next. Because of course there’s always something next. Usually it’s chocolate.
Chris’s Sun Chips talk like that to me. They get me in big trouble. Chris doesn’t like it when someone eats his whole bag of Sun Chips in one day.
I ate a bag of sunchips on sunday night. Then I had FREAKY nightmares all night–I discovered they have a form of MSG in them (which I think Ive finally determined is what gives me these WEIRD nightmares). Best thing thats ever happened to me. An EXCUSE NOT to eat something I can easily put down a whole bag of. GENIUS! I think I should write to other companies and have them put stuff in their food that causes negative side effects. I would have QUITE a list =)~
DO THEY REALLY??? Are you kidding me? Chris is going to DIE. And I like the way you think.
Hey Arielle! I know I asked you this once in a comment, but then I forgot, and have no idea which post I left it in…therefore without any easy way to see if you answered…so I’ll ask again…how did you get your website to be http://www.couchcubicle.com ?
I’m pretty jealous!
Emma -
You mean how did I get it to be that instead of .wordpress? When you sign up for the blog they give you the option to buy a domain name, so I did it. It’s only $16. I think if you go to the dashboard it’s under options…let me know if that doesn’t answer your question!
Oh okay! Thanks Arielle!
hi! this is the first time i had seen a link to your site (on katheats…)…i’m such a foodie. Anyways, I live in a tiny tiny brooklyn apt. too… far too close to a tiny tiny kitchen is my tiny living room (if you can call it that) and, so, when i’m home ALL I THINK ABOUT/DO is eat. anyways, love the site, ill be reading
Sheila -
Where do you live?
Thanks!! Nice to know that someone out there understands me
Arielle- I just found your blog and love it! It’s comforting to know that someone else eats chocolate chips as a treat. I used to have a roommate who made fun of me for this. But maybe that’s because instead of putting them in a bowl and keeping the portion under control, I usually eat them straight out of the bag while I stand in front of the pantry…this is often the low point of my day. Anyways, looking forward to reading more! I work from home sometimes and I know what restraint it can take to not eat everything in the house!!
I just wanted to let you know that i just discovered your blog and it has become one of my favorites to read while eating my lunch each day in my non-couch cubicle. You are hilarious. Thanks for the blog!
Arielle I can tell by your blog that you seem to really love Mexican food. Is this all that you make? Do you have a good recipe for mexican lasagna, cause I have a good one for make your own Nachos!!
