So I was recently asked to do a review of Fizzy Lizzy, a new beverage. I don’t usually use words like beverage, but I’m not sure what to call these things - it’s not soda, but basically fruit juice concentrate mixed with carbonated water. No high fructose corn syrup, no added sugar, no artificial colors.
They sent me four flavors:
Gulf Coast Tangerine, Costa Rican Pineapple, Yakima Valley Grape, and Lone Star Grapefruit. And yes, it does say “Gently shake my hips before placing bottle to your lips.” I don’t know what that’s about, but don’t shake too hard. I created a miniature explosion.
Here’s what I thought of the Gulf Coast Tangerine:
Chris agreed with me. It was a little too bitter and had a weird after taste. But truth be told, I’m not really a citrus kind of girl. In fact, I’m not even sure I’ve ever had an actual tangerine, so it could be the fruit that offends me, and not this particular drink.
Next came the Lone Star Grapefruit:
It was okay. Like I said, not a citrus girl.
Not to worry, though, because things started looking up from there. I’d definitely give the Yakima Valley Grape a solid B:
And the Costa Rican Pineapple made Chris do this:
He was rather taken with it, as you can see. Clearly, the pineapple takes the cake. It was the best by far.
But here’s the thing - I drink water. And coffee. And red wine. Sometimes beer and vodka. I don’t drink juice. I don’t drink soda. Every once in a while, I’ll buy a Vitamin Water, but I can never make it through the whole bottle. I just don’t like sweet drinks. I only took about two sips of each of these flavors, and I still feel nauseous.
So I’m not the best person to test this “Fruit & Fizz With Body,” and you probably shouldn’t listen to me. If you like things like soda, this is definitely a better alternative. Calorie-wise, it’s almost equal (a can of Coke has about 140 calories; these are all between 90 - 165 a bottle) but the ingredients don’t even compare. Instead of corn syrup and artificial flavorings, you’re drinking fruit juice and seltzer which means you can totally make your own at home for much less money.
As for me, I think I’ll stick to water. And, of course, this:

Haha, love the photographs to go along with the reviews :0D
Hmmm…they should make a wine-flavored one!
I love that bracelet…where did you get it??
hahaha …which means you can totally make your own.
i like your necklace!! and your first picture made me laugh.
It’s funny that you are reviewing this because probably about a year ago my boyfriend bought one of those drinks (I can’t remember which flavor) but he absolutely hated it. Thinking back, I think he may have made the exact face as you did in response to the Tangerine.
speaking of drinking vodka…don’t you think those would taste awesome with vodka??? cause i know so. totally.
I love your review! hahaha. You should do these all the time. haha.
Also your boyfriend has the same shirt as my boyfriend. funny stuff.
LOL the photos are great
I only drink water as well - I just can’t justify drinking juice or soda when I could grab a glass of water and a piece of fresh fruit.
I’m like you. I drink water, coffee, and wine.
End of story.
Those drinks sound yucky. Especially the tangerine.
I look like such a fucking moron in that picture.
I tried the Fizzy Lizzy samples too– they’re delicious mixed with a little vodka!
P.S. I’m so crazy!
i get the grape one all the time. i love it, especially with vodka ; )
LOL!!!!!! loved this review, the pictures say it alll!

Thanks. I hope Lizzy did too.

Now that’s something I could get into.

That’s my girl Laurel’s creation!! Check her out - lolojane.com.
Emma -
Thanks. Also Laurel. See above.
Brittany -
Yeah, I could hardly get Chris to drink them.
Betsy -
I don’t really like sweet alcoholic drinks, either…although I think for other people, yes, they would be very good with vodka. I’m more of a vodka/soda kind of girl.
Cara -
I doubt I’ll ever be asked to do another one after this. Urban outfitters, right?
Magpie -
Very true.
Kristen -
The tangerine was yucky. But you like white wine, right? I don’t even like that anymore. Although, I will say that every once in a while, when I’m really, really hungover, all I want is Dr. Pepper.
Chris -
You do not.
Tina -
I’m sure. I don’t really like juice mixers, but I bet it would be good. And you are crazy.
Alexa -
See people? I’m telling you, it’s just me. Give them a try. Especially with vodka.
Lindz -
Thanks.
All I can say is that I am very disturbed there is a drink named after Yakima Valley and I don’t care if you had said it was the best drink ever - I’m not drinking it. Let’s just say it’s not the kind of place you name a drink after.
