On the train this morning I gave myself a little anti-Starbucks pep talk. I have been in there three times this week already and it has to stop. I am drinking a rather large hole in my bank account.
So I was gearing up for the double walk by that occurs between the train and my building, when I have to pass two locations and breathe in the wonderful coffee aroma and then somehow convince myself that the “Costa Rico” roast from the Flavia machine at work is just as good.
It’s not.
So today I started by telling myself that no, I am not that tired, and no, I don’t really need the extra calcium that comes with a misto, because since when have I ever cared this much about calcium before. In fact, I hate milk.
Also, three dollars times four is actually a lot and maybe even enough to buy a new shirt. Or possibly four new shirts, if you shop at Forever 21.

Just savor the Starbucks today, and enjoy :0)
3 times 4 could also buy your Sexy, Charismatic, Athletic boyfriend something.
i quite smoking (yay me!) and quick going to starbucks (so sad) around the same time about 6 or 9 months ago. i have over $250 more in my checking account a month from those two cut backs alone.
i should be smart and save it but instead i buy shoes and handbags. oh well
Omg, I laughed outloud. That is my life in a nutshell.
my friend today told me that he got a little card in the Post that allows him 1 free starbucks every wednesday through July!!!
You should look for it in the paper.
Sugar-free, non-fat, vanilla, awake tea mistos with two teabags are my passion.
We have flavia machines here too. They suck.
I want to know more about this little card that gets you 1 free Starbucks on Wednesdays. I need that little card.
ha! i have had this internal debate so many times. i pretty much always somehow end up with a latte in my hand.
also, rachel -
WHAT?!!?!?!??!? where can i get this amazing card?!
I hope by the Post you mean the Washington Post, but i think i am about to cry when i realize you mean the NY Post. am I correct?
I just had to fight with myself over lunch break not to stop at Starbucks… now I am sad and without a latte.
I should have stopped, damn it.
I’m fairly certain starbucks drinks must have crack in them. I feel so comforted after the first sip
VG -
Oh I did.
Chris -
Yes. A $12 something. Like maybe a bottle of wine.
Alexa -
You deserve those handbags! I believe it. I read the other day that cigarettes are $9 a pack here.
Rachie -
I’m glad I’m not alone.
Rachel -
Really?? That’s amazing.
Ben -
You sound high maintenance. And expensive.
Arielle -
They really do.
Brittany -
I know it.
Anne -
I think she means the NY Post. Although, for the record, I love the Washington Post. I wish I could get it here.
Chandra -
Yep, that’s what happens to me too. And then I cry in my Flavia.
Erica -
They so do.
