Salsa or peanut butter?
May 9, 2008 by arielle
My snack this afternoon was carrots, which I dipped in some salsa:
This is just the first serving, I had more. Okay, I had most of the bag. They are carrots, though, not chips. Let’s keep this in perspective.
Then Chris came home and started eating, which naturally made me hungry again, and so I had a bite of his Clif bar:
Jack was all over this. Just look at the longing in his eyes. It took me ten tries to get a decent shot.
And then, more carrots and salsa, and a few of the crackers Chris had out:
Okay, so here’s the question. Chris says that dipping carrots in salsa is gross. He, however, dips carrots in peanut butter, which I think is gross. Also, we don’t all have the luxury of a super-fast boy metabolism, do we?
So let’s hear it. Which is better with carrots, salsa or peanut butter? Be honest and pick salsa.

Since when is dipping carrots in salsa gross??
I’m addicted to salsa… I go through 1.8 L in less than a week. Seriously. I eat it on its own, with broccoli, celery. It’s my vice. But honestly, it’s a vegetable (ok, it’s tomato mixed with spices and junk), it ain’t gonna hurt.
I think dipping carrots in salsa is MUCH better than dipping it in p.b. - that’s what celery is for!!
Loooove the photograph with Jack - cool angle!
I LOVE salsa and carrots! I love peanut butter also..but with carrots? I just dont love it that much..
i’m all over salsa and carrots..but i must say, I’ve tried them with peanut butter…and while I’m not sold on it, I don’t think it’s horrible..weird, I know
but it’s peanut butter!!
Salsa and carrots isn’t a bad combo, but I just don’t think i could pick up enough salsa on my carrot like I can with a chip. i like hummus best!
sorry. peanut butter
I LOVE SALSA! I have it every morning on my egg whites! I do like carrots and peanut butter but I tend to eat too much so I always have my veggies with salsa.
Usually I just dip my fingers in the peanut butter.
i dip every raw veggie under the sun in marinara
no big deal
salsa is also good
and salsa is good mixed with hummus and cottage cheese
salsa
You are both weirdos. Salad dressing was invented for a reason.
However, peanut butter is good with all other foods in life. Including sugar sprinkled on top. That officially turns peanut butter into a main course.
I loooove carrots and salsa, but I kind of have to say that carrots and PB wins. Not in the fat content race, though. So good job to you for keeping it healthy.
I agree w/ you
I looooove carrots or any veggie w/ salsa… the only veggie I can eat w/ pb is celery
red peppers are good with PB too. but sorry I’ve never understood salsa with eggs, salsa with cottage cheese… those things kinda gross me out?!
id pick salsa too.
apples with pb.
My favorite thing with carrots is hummus. I’ve never had carrots with salsa or PB but I would have to pick salsa. I asked this before but I am sure if you responded… what kind of dog is Jack? Such a cutie…
Usually I mix salsa and peanut butter together and dip strawberries in it.
i just had a salad with salsa and egg whites on top.
de-lish. go salsa… PB is for carbs or fruit only. and chocolate and yogurt. and in my hair for later when i need a snack
I vote PB. Ants on a log? Come on, best snack ever.
Well, I always knew I was smarter than Chris. Thanks for all the votes!!

That is tough. It may be the only negative.

I used to put it on my egg whites, too.
Hannah -
That’s what I do, too.
Kootz -
I will take your word on that I think.
Ben -
Sugar sprinkled ON TOP? Now that’s crazy.
Em -
I like the salsa/eggs combo. Because it’s everything I would want in an omelet all in one place. Convenience.
Lotus -
Sorry - he’s a pit/lab mix. So, a mutt.
Shawn -
Another McGowen special.
Kootz -
Hahaha. Mostly it’s for chocolate.

I thought ants on a log was with celery?
Celery or carrots. But traditionally celery, yes.
Hmm…personally i’m more of a peanut butter and carrots fan, but salsa is good, as well! They’re both healthy enough (you’re eating them with CARROTS and not, say, chips) so I see nothing wrong with either.
