Coffee to the rescue
May 8, 2008 by arielle
I fell asleep on the train this morning. Dead asleep. Ridiculous. I mean, it was 9:15. I’d already been to the gym. Luckily, I may have been on the only C train in the whole city that actually has a working PA system, and I woke up before my stop because I was dreaming that someone was screaming at me.
So, the moral of this story is that I needed this:

At least it was the C and not the F or V or something. You might have woken up next to a large black man stroking your hair and staring goofily, while ‘Dreamweaver’ plays in the background.*
*This actually happened to me. Minus the ‘Dreamweaver’
Yikes, good thing you didn’t miss your stop!! Hooray for your much-needed coffee fix :0)
on the subway, someone really could have been screaming at you. or preaching to you. or peeing next to you. i take the A everyday to the end of the line (207th st.) and have experienced all of that.
yay coffee!
They just opened a starbucks in the parking lot of my work. I promised myself i would only go once a week. ive been everyday this week and they know my name already.
I suck. I will be broke soon and still suck.
Luckily (not luckily?) my car has NO CUPHOLDERS, which significantly cuts down on my coffee buying. The few times I’ve tried balancing it in between my legs while shifting and steering, coffee has ended up all over the white leather. Oh yeah, and technically this is my boyfriend’s car, so really it’s not great that I’m spilling coffee all over it. And luckily I no longer live within walking distance to starbucks.
On the one trip I took to New York to visit my sister I fell asleep on the train coming back from the Met and missed my stop and I thought my sister was going to kill me. There was a lot of talk about how I’m too much of a disaster to be allowed to go into the city by myself. Anyway, I wish I had thought to buy a coffee as I was leaving the museum.
LOL, i love all the comments. scary black men stroking your hair, people peeing next to you… wow. the DC metro seems to be much less scary than new york’s!
interesting, i see the square where my photo should be (if i had one) now decided to give itself random designs to make up for my lack of photo. i enjoy it.

I think I’ve seen that guy. No, but maybe his friend.

Yeah, missing the stop is not good.

I think the preaching is my favorite. Once this guy asked me if I’ve had sex before marriage. I was like, I’m pretty sure that’s none of your business. And so then he told me that it was God’s business. Walked right into that one.

They suck you in.

That is exactly why I don’t drink coffee on the train. It’s a health hazard. Although spilling it on white leather seats is much worse.

We have a friend who falls asleep and misses his stop all the time.

The DC metro is so much nicer. No contest. And I noticed those things too. WordPress put a lot of effort into that one.
