God bless the UPS

The new camera came today! Sorry, Chris, I opened it.
It’s kind of large, but I think that just means it does very fancy things. It has a really big screen where I can see the pictures (I already learned, thanks to a clever little sticker, that this is called an LCD). It’s also navy blue, as advertised. Unfortunately, it is not so advanced as to know how to take pictures of itself, so you’ll just has to take my word for it.
Also unfortunate is the fact that it didn’t come until after lunch, so I have one last blackberry photo for you, of a peanut butter, flax and banana “quesadilla:”
Did you know that when you try to spell check quesadilla on this thing, it gives you Cadillac? How does that make sense?
Anyway, I also accidentally stopped at the store on my way home from work and somehow $20 vanished from my wallet. I bought these beautiful strawberries:
I’m a little blurry, but I’m working on it. There are a lot of mysterious buttons on this thing.
I ate the strawberries with some of Chris’s cereal and hempmilk, another thing that I purchased at the store:
Cereal is on the bottom. I actually had a lot more strawberries throughout the afternoon than just these. Let’s just say these guys will be lucky to see tomorrow.
Okay, so hempmilk. Let’s discuss this. I am sorry to report that I think it is, well, a little overrated. I mean, what’s the big deal? First of all, if you get the vanilla kind, like I did, it has a ton of sugar (I bought the Living Harvest brand). And also, it doesn’t really taste that good. Am I missing something here? I mean, with the strawberries, it was good. But by itself it tastes kind of chalky.
Maybe I am not the best person to be judging it, because I don’t like milk by itself either. And hempmilk does have lots of calcium and other good-for-you things. But I was expecting more, flavor-wise.
Okay. I’m going to go play with my camera now. Jack has graciously agreed to be my model, and I don’t want to keep him waiting. He’s kind of a diva.

i wouldn’t know about hemp milk. can’t find it, haven’t tried it…hmmm glad to hear a different kind of review though!
Hooray for your new camera arriving!!! :0)
So sorry that you didn’t like the hempmilk - it’s one of my obsessions. To each their own :0)
Oh my goodness, those strawberries are gorgeous!! They look like giant rubies!!
Haha, hope to see cute photographs of Jack soon!
Make sure you shake it up well. I think it’s best in oatmeal, but I really do like it in cereal. So much more flavor than regular skim milk. I usually cut it with skim to cut down on the sugar too.
i hate it when someone sneaks in my wallet and spends my money. grr
i have to agree with you on the hempmilk. it was waaay to sweet for me and had a weird texture. i’m totally into unsweetened vanilla almond breeze. now that’s something i could swim in. if i was in the mood to swim in almond breeze.
Yep, the vanilla hemp milk has sugar, but I think it’s worth it. I really enjoy it with my oatmeal. But your’re young, and probably not thinking about your cholesterol, omega-3’s and stuff like that. Ahhhh, to be young again!
I’m 25 and I worry about that stuff Karen. Plus I have genetic high blood pressure that I have to keep on top of.
I have yet to try hemp milk but I love unsweetened almond breeze, give that a whirl, I think you’ll be impressed…
Enjoy taking pics of the diva
I’m a huge fan of unsweetened almond milk. Mmm!
I totally agree with you on the hemp milk - chalky and weird and too thick by itself. HOWEVER…. as others have said, it’s freaking amazing in oatmeal. I use that instead of skim milk now and it gives it a great sweet-ish flavor so i don’t need to add brown sugar or anything. Also, I think you will appreciate this: I told my mom about hemp milk the other day and she asked me if this meant i would test positive for marijuana. Lol.
almond milk almond milk! i take showers in it every morning.
seriously. hemp milk is gross. what is hemp anyway?

I’ve only seen it in health food stores.
Veggiegirl -
maybe it will grow on me. I’m drinking the carton because it cost $4.

I shook it…I would try it in oatmeal but I’m not a huge fan of that either! I’m thinking coffee maybe…or hot chocolate…or a smoothie.
Betsy -
Yeah, sweet and like chalky at the same time. Weird.
Karen -
True, I don’t think about my cholesterol that much. But I do try to get those omega 3s!
Re unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I will try it. Does it have artificial sweeteners, though? How do they make it vanilla?
Anne -
I do appreciate that. Always good to have something to blame just in case.

I bet you smell lovely. Hemp is a seed. Commonly associated with marijuana.
hemp milk is way overrated and I’m glad someone finally said it! Its expensive, tastes chalky, and sort of breaks down in hot foods (coffee)…it sort of separates and looks wierd. Also, people always tote it for all the added omega fats, but your body can’t absorb 90% of the AHA that is in it since it isnt bioavailable (read: our body doesn’t digest it). I could go on for awhile about it, but my basic read on it is this: if you like the taste go for it, but its not the nutritional powerhouse its made out to be.

I just learned the thing about coffee the hard way. I agree. Totally overrated.
