Romantic evening
April 28, 2008 by arielle
Tonight’s dinner was accompanied by the sound of our landlord busting a hole through the wall behind our toilet. A hole that will probably be there for, oh, at least five to seven weeks. Possibly longer.
Luckily, Jack has already eaten most of the plaster off the floor and now more than likely has asbestos poisoning. We keep yelling at him, but apparently asbestos is quite tasty.
No. I am not letting my dog eat asbestos. Especially after I already locked him outside today. What kind of person do you think I am? He’s only eating the lead paint.
Chris and I, we had shrimp tacos, because I can’t think of anything that goes better with bathroom construction than seafood:
Yikes these pictures are bad.
I had one shrimp taco, with lettuce, guacamole, tomatoes, cilantro and cheddar cheese, and a enormous pile of grilled vegetables. I went back for more grilled vegetables.
For the shrimp, I basically used chili powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. They were frozen, and I put the spice mixture on them when they were still a little wet from defrosting, so it stuck and made a kind of paste. Then I grilled them with the vegetables on my minuscule grill pan that makes my apartment smell like a forest fire. The vegetables are just brushed with balsamic vinegar and salt/pepper. Brushed, I said. I’m quite fancy.
And then I had some chocolate chips:
I missed my chocolate chips.
Chris just sat down next to me and said, “Romantic evening? That’s nice. I didn’t even know I was romantic tonight.” He now has a content little smile on his face, like he can cross that one off his to-do list for this week.

I laughed the whole way through this one. Ahh you crack me up
You are truly hilarious
hahahaha this was such a great post. Can we hang out? I think I might lose all my weight laughing. hahah. jk.
LOL… u r too funny… what a great way to start my morning but reading your hilarious post
Haha!! Oh goodness, you NEED to have a sitcom :0D
This post totally made my day! No lie I woke up this morning so bummed out about my foot and my paper that I have to write all day long and no choice not to do it bc I can’t move. Then I read your blog. Honestly, it felt SO good to read this and laugh and release some of my negativity… It was E.X.A.C.T.L.Y. what I needed today! Girl, I just love you! (Sorry Chris…
I’m like a modern day Don Juan. Or maybe even Rico Suave.
Yes, more like Rico Suave.
My dog ate the linoleum off my kitchen floor. It wasnt ripped upand he chewed it or anything, he ripped it up himself. The landlord was like, “Oh, we can just put the patch back down.” I was like, “I dont think you understand….he ATE it.” Now i get to pay for a new floor when i move out.

Thank you. Although I imagine the hole in my bathroom will stop being funny pretty quickly.

Hahaha…Jack threw up a bunch of rubber bands the other day. I was like, Hmm…
I reread this post this morning. (Tina posted a link to it on carrots and cake..) I think I spit a chunk of my cereal out. I wouldn’t normally think of seafood with shrimp tacos, but-hey-that’s why you’re the top chef.
