Banana + Coffee
March 12, 2008 by arielle
I went to spinning this morning because clearly I cannot be trusted to go on Thursday nights. It’s so nice to get it out of the way - I hate going to the gym in the evening.
When I got home I was starving and I still had to walk the dog and shower before breakfast so I ate a banana:
This is very out of character for me, but I was feeling adventurous (and also too lazy to cut up an apple). I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a banana plain. Something about it grosses me out. It turned out okay, though I’m not sure I’d do it again.
Anyway, now I’m drinking coffee:
I have a meeting in the city at one today, which means I have to invert my snack and my lunch I think because I need to leave at around 12:15 and I won’t be hungry for lunch that early. I know you didn’t need to know that, but I’m trying to work this schedule change out in my head and I think that’s the best solution. It also means figs (!!!) are sooner rather than later.

Do use a French press to make your coffee? I kind of want to buy one!
Oh man banana’s are gross to me plain as well. It causes the gag effect. But I love it in my oatmea! mmm.
French presses are my favorite!! I have both a regular coffee machine and a french press.. and there’s definitely a big difference. French press coffee has a richer, darker and stronger taste, but oh so yummy! I also love the convenience of just having a coffee maker do the work for me.
Hehe I used to eat bananas plain all the time, but since I tried pb on them, now I can never go back to eating them plain
Tina - I use either a one-cup French press or a percolator. The percolator is more time consuming and harder to clean, but I actually like the coffee from the percolator better. Still, I use the press more because Chris doesn’t drink coffee so it’s perfect for a single serving. And the coffee is still good, I would go for it - they’re cheap!
Cara - I’m glad someone agrees with me. I like them in my oatmeal, too.
Aimee - Have you ever tried a percolator? I think it makes stronger coffee. But I am a notoriously bad coffee maker in general, so I could be screwing everything up.
Lindz - Yeah, they are awesome with PB!! But what isn’t?
That’s a good tip Arielle - One of my friends has a percolator and I’ve had her coffee several times. It was awesome, but she also buys high end coffee (which I’m having trouble affording lately!)
Have you ever heard of Porto Rico Importing Co. for coffee? They have one store on Bleecker Street. I’ve never actually been to one, but I’ve ordered coffee from them several times and it was really great.
Mmm.. speaking of coffee.. I think I need some right now.
