Cookies!!!

I ended up not spending the evening on the couch after all. After trudging through the snow on a walk with Jack, we decided that we were up to the challenge of going out to dinner. We went to this wine bar, Stonehome, in Fort Greene, the neighborhood next to ours. I love this place! Not only because I love wine, but because the food is good too, which is a little rare for a wine bar.
We shared a bottle of wine, which I picked and for once Chris liked, and then we had a cheese plate as an appetizer. I love cheese plates. They make me feel like a grown up. I had the bass for dinner, which was amazing, and it came with mushroom risotto, which might just be my favorite thing ever.
Anyway, after dinner I ran around from bodega to bodega looking for real vanilla extract because I wanted to make the vegan cookies that Jenna’s been posting about. I finally found some, and baked the cookies when I got home, complete with a little wine buzz:
They turned out pretty well. I kept waiting for them to get brown and they never did, so finally I just took them out. Chris said that they tasted a little “off,” which I agree with - there’s a little weird taste that isn’t there with a regular old chocolate chip cookie, but they’re still really good. I’m not sure that I’d make them again, but only because I rarely bake and I don’t have a problem with dairy.
I had one for dessert:
I will say this - these cookies get HUGE. The recipe says it makes 8 - 10, but I got 12 out of it and they were still enormous. Who doesn’t like big cookies???
I also had my banana/brown sugar/plain yogurt mixture for a snack around five:
