A magic quesadilla
February 7, 2008 by arielle
I am amazed with my lunch. Absolutely amazed. Enthralled, even. That quesadilla kept me full for a good four hours. In fact, if I wasn’t going to the gym tonight, I probably would have skipped having a snack altogether and just waited for dinner. This is absolutely unheard of for me (obviously, or I wouldn’t need this blog). And it’s not even that I was too busy to think about eating, which does happen on occasion. Not today though - as evidenced by my three posts before 5:30, which is also unheard of around here.
I might have to eat this lunch everyday. I quite possibly have stumbled on the key to satiety: sweet potatoes, whole wheat tortillas, black beans, and cheddar cheese. I mean, if you think about it, it does cover the majority of the food groups. We’ve got protein in the beans and cheese, vegetables, grains, dairy and fat. Although I try to cover most of the food groups with all my meals and I’m never this full.
I finally got a little hungry when I took Jack for a walk about about 4:45. In the late afternoons/early evenings, my neighborhood is taken over by this amazing smell. Good smells are not something you encounter often in Brooklyn, but this one is kind of like a combination of fresh bread baking in the oven and glazed donuts. It’s indescribable, really, so I’m going to stop trying. The point is that it makes me hungry.
I had the standard apples/peanut butter combo:
Okay, I’ll be back for dinner, if it’s something decent, and definitely for dessert.

nothing better than nut-butter and apples! you really need to try cashew-butter, almond-butter, and/or hazelnut-butter!! :0)
I know…I still haven’t gotten around to hazelnut butter. I’ll try to look for some next time I’m at the store, promise!!
