First timer!

I’m pretty excited about this, I have to say. I’ve been wanting to write a food blog for SO LONG (I love to read other blogs; it’s pretty much all I do online) and just wasn’t sure what to write about. I’m hoping I can make this a mix of documenting my daily eating, sharing recipes, and pointing out healthy new foods. And on that note…
I had the best yogurt I’ve ever had in my life yesterday. Bold statement, I know. If you’re a yogurt fan, you have got to try skyr.is yogurt. Seriously. I remember when Fage swept the nation and everyone became obsessed with Greek yogurt. I tried it; it’s pretty good. But forget about those Greeks, apparently Iceland is where it’s at. That’s where skyr.is is from, and that’s all the evidence I need to proclaim Iceland the home of the best yogurt.
Okay, I’m being a little dramatic. I admit it. But I wandered into Whole Foods yesterday to buy a snack for the 4+ hours I was going to be at work (I know I said I work from home, but I have to commute into the city for work about once a week) and I stumbled on this yogurt. It’s pricey - over $2 for 6 ounces, yikes! - but so worth it. So worth it. In fact, I plan on stocking up next time I walk by Whole Foods on my way to Trader Joe’s, which won my grocery money by being cheaper and, let’s face it, better all around.
I’m getting off topic. Let me describe. I am not a fan of plain yogurt. I know I should be. Sugars, artificial sweetener - neither is good for you, and both are found in flavored yogurts. But I just can’t get into the plain. It tastes like sour cream to me, and I was never a fan of that. Even if I was, I wouldn’t eat it with a spoon (would you?). So I picked up the vanilla skyr.is, and let me tell you - it was amazing. I snagged about a tablespoon of Bear Naked granola (banana nut flavor, mmmmm) out of the office pantry to sprinkle on top, and that only amped up the amazing-ness, if that’s a word. You can actually see the flecks of black from the real vanilla bean that is used to flavor this yogurt. It’s thick, and creamy, and almost like ice cream. Better yet, it’s naturally fat free, and only 150 calories for the whole cup. And, it comes with a sweet little spoon that is so handy if you didn’t bring your own (I didn’t).

[...] I was absolutely starving. And, let’s be honest, I wanted to stock up on some more of that fantastic yogurt I mentioned in my first post (I have a bad habit of getting absolutely obsessed with a food, eating [...]
